hi everyone i'm chernise yvette and i'mgoing to be showing you a tour of my 250 square foot micro studio apartment inchicago you heard that right 250 square when i tell people i live ina tiny space they often ask me if i have a bathroom, does the bathroom have a door, do i have a stove,do i have a kitchen do i have on of those pull out beds that pull out from the wall am i insane and all of those are validquestions because i had no idea what a micro studio apartment was before i decidedto move into one i never even lived in a studio apartment before. one reason i'm making thisvideo is because when i did a google search looking for micro studio's i didn'tfind much, so two reasons i decided to look into
a small space, is i wanted to save money because i hadno money saved. the second reason is because i have a goal of becoming a minimalist. now a days ionly purchase items that i absolutely love and enjoy looking at and enjoy using and i use often. when ichecked out this unit, the person who was living here had a mattress on the floorand this round table and i have to literally walk around everything like this... everything was ill fitting.what really sold me about this apartment is that is has high ceilings, i knewthat was one of the things i could not live without. another deal breaker for me wasif i couldn't find parking. i have a car now, my building doesn't have a parking lot. but, i was able to find a lot nearby and then this used to be a single occupancy hotel that they gutted out
to make into apartment units.so it had all the updated appliances. marble counter tops, all of the light switches in the rightposition, new paint on the wall...the building has a doorman and as a female i feelsafe knowing that there is security here for me. there's somewhere to put my bike because theres a bike room. also, i compete in fitness shows and i workout six to seven days a week so it's nice to have afitness center in the building that i can go to if i can't make it to the gym. plus theres a roof top deck and its all about location too. i can just step outside andi'm at the lake, i got bike trails run trails, theres restaurants and nightlife... i have never been the type ofperson that likes a lot of company over to my home so the way i decorated wasfor me. so, i decided to keep my queen
size bed. i like to do all my work on mylaptop from my bed. i watch tv from my bed, i sleep in my bed, so my place revolves around my big ole bed. maybe for you if you're an entertainer you would decorate your place differently.you would make it more inviting for guest. me, i have 1 to 2 people over here every once in awhile. so, no biggie for me. here's some things i've learned about decorating my micro studioapartment. you want to go up with everything. youwant to draw the eye up, it'll give you the illusion that you do have more space. and choose furniture that you're really gonna use. you don't haveto go the traditional route of having a coffee table and a side table and this and that just because that's tradition have the items that you're going to use.i'm never sitting at that desk doing
work. i never eat at that desk. i eat in mybed. (laughs) but, i'm going to keep the desk of course because i paid for it and it looks cute. there's nothing elsethat i would replace it with, so that corner with just be kinda empty.acrylic virtually doesn't take up any space so i really love my acrylic tables. you want to look fornesting tables things that you can store within each other and just pull them outwhen you need them. also, look for items that have wheels so it's very easy foryou to move around and i'm a big fan plastic containers things that i couldsee into. oh, here's another thing that i've learned get the containers that have thedrawers that you can pull out otherwise
if you a container that has a lidyou're just gonna be stacking things on top of it when you need it, it's gonna be a hasslefor you to take everything off top of it to get that one item. so, f you haveeverything stacked up in their containers that have pull out drawersyour gonna be able to easily access everything. my unit, i pay a little under $1000now. that is going up every single year i started off at $865 about two orthree years ago and that's just going to keep going up, i know that, so cross my fingers, i just need to make more money every year. hey guys, so that's my250 square foot micro studio apartment in chicago! i hope this tour helped you out in deciding whether you may wantto live in a small space and if you were just checking this video out to see where live and how i roll, then thanks for watching! if you liked it
